8th Dec 2019 - OT Reading: Isaiah 11:1 – 10. 1 The royal line of David is like a tree that has been cut down; but just as new branches sprout from a stump, so a new king will arise from among David's descendants.2 The spirit of the Lord will give him wisdom and the knowledge and skill to rule his people. He will know the Lord's will and honor him, 3 and find pleasure in obeying him. He will not judge by appearance or hearsay; 4 he will judge the poor fairly and defend the rights of the helpless. Gospel Reading: Matthew 3:1 – 12 . 1 At that time John the Baptist came to the desert of Judea and started preaching. 2 “Turn away from your sins,” he said, “because the Kingdom of heaven is near!” 3 John was the man the prophet Isaiah was talking about when he said,“Someone is shouting in the desert, ‘Prepare a road for the Lord; make a straight path for him to travel!’” Click here for the Presentation

That king will rule wisely and do what is right and just throughout the land. Gospel Reading: Luke 23:33 – 43. 33 When they came to the place called “The Skull,” they crucified Jesus there, and the two criminals, one on his right and the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Forgive them, Father! 10th Nov 2019 - First Reading: 2 Thessalonians 2:1 – 5, 13 – 17. 1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to be with him: I beg you, my friends, 2 not to be so easily confused in your thinking or upset by the claim that the Day of the Lord has come. ... 3 Do not let anyone deceive you in any way. ... and the Wicked One appears, who is destined to hell. Gospel Reading: Luke 20:27 – 40 . 34 Jesus answered them, “The men and women of this age marry, 35 but the men and women who are worthy to rise from death and live in the age to come will not then marry.36 They will be like angels and cannot die.... 37 And Moses clearly proves that the dead are raised to life. In the passage about the burning bush he speaks of the Lord as ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ 38 He is the God of the living, not of the dead, for to him all are alive.” Click here for the Presentation

I thank you that I am not like that tax collector over there. 12 I fast two days a week, and I give you one tenth of all my income.’ 13 But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even raise his face to heaven, but beat on his breast and said, ‘God, have pity on me, a sinner!’. 14 I tell you,” said Jesus, “the tax collector, and not the Pharisee, was in the right with God when he went home.
